Fg p-51d

I thought I would enter first with a P-51 if I can make it come out ok. I don't expect it to look like cmags great recent build, but still hope to make a fg model that has been fun to make for me in the past... the trouble is I'm trying rrsilver paper which admittedly is new to me and giving me a little trouble with smudging....this is John Dell's Man O War version

goooood!

I'm curious to see how the wing fairings work for you.

I tried a silver paper one, but my problem was the paper cracked wherever I folded it...so I packed it in.

hey Dave! Yeh the silver paper is different, but the Red River brand doesn't seem to crack, although its giving me some fits... the glue joints show through more than card, and it really smudges easily... but we'll see if it will work on this one...hope to get as far as you!!

I see you are in the "modded" section, what have you got planned?

(the silver paper isn't a "mod" is it?)

Thanks for the nice comments guys! These little models got me started in this hobby, so I owe Chip alot for all the fun of building in card...Regarding mods,
I thought I'd change some things a bit, new radiator intake, besides that some wing changes and scratch gear and the usual things, cockpit scratch canopy hopefully

yeah, the photos can help hide things! lol

still, it looks pretty darn good to me.

it would definately look better with decals or even handpainted insignia.
...not sure I like those paper insignia.

That's looking pretty nice. What'd you use for the cockpit and canopy? I think the paper insignia can work but would look cleaner if you trim right up to the blue and edge-color so you see no white outside the insignia. Not sure if you still can trim but go over it with blue on the edges carefully and it will look a lot cleaner. But I really like the effect of the silver, and the added insignia is a good idea - didn't look right to have the white fields as silver.
