If you do actually get to Omaha tomorrow at a good time, I could probably get you out to the museum for a tour. Unfortunately, I have work and an open house at school Tuesday into the evening.
The museum closes at 5:00 P.M. if you're planning to go there. |

Well as it so happens, I might be able to wrangle a 34 hour restart in Omaha.
We're only allowed to drive 70 hours in an 8 day period, then our available hours to drive hits 0. , on the 8th day, we get back the hours from the day we drove 8 days ago. Visual example: Monday: 5 hrs driven, 65 hrs available Tuesday: 10 hrs driven, 55 hrs available Wednesday: 9 hrs driven, 46 hrs available Thursday: 11 hrs driven, 35 hrs available Friday: 9 hrs driven, 26 hrs available Saturday: 10 hrs driven, 16 hrs available Sunday: 6 hrs driven, 10 hrs available Monday: 10 hrs driven, 0 hrs available Tuesday:... Here's how it works. On tuesday, the 9th day, at midnight, the first Monday falls off, and I get those hours driven back, which means I can only drive 5 hours that day. THis is on a rolling clock, so as each day falls off, I get those hrs driven back, and it would look like this. Tuesday: 5 hrs available to work Wednesday: 10 hrs available to work Thursday: 9 hrs available to work and so on... The thing is, that's only the hours available to work, which includes driving, waiting to be loaded or unloaded, waiting to be assigned a load, fueling, ect. So available driving hours dwindles rapidly. Now, the only way to reset the clock and get all 70 hours back in one chunk is to be off duty for 34 consecutive hours. I'm gonna se if I can arrange for a 34 hr restart in Omaha tomrorrow. |

Aaron glad I don't have to deal with that log book stuff. About the only time we get hit is when some extra board guy trys to work his consecutive days off or someone gets busted for working another job.
What is the official name of the museum since I've actually got a 2 consecutive week vacation in July this year and am planning on doing a museum tour back east? |

It is the Strategic Air and Space Museum (formerly the SAC Museum). It's located about 3/4 of a mile west of exit 426 on I-80 between Lincoln, NE and Omaha, NE.
Ashland, NE | Strategic Air & Space Museum It also happens to be my avatar! |

Thanks Willygoat. I was thinking about heading north to I-80 and then turning east, sounding better all the time.

The Stratigic Air and Space Museum, Ashland, Nebraska.
Take a tripod, I think it was allowed, the building with the Vulcan is/was poorly lit, and take a W I D E angle lens. You'll find it very useful. SFX Oops, looks like I got jumped. Sorry to repete. |

No problem Swampfox, wish I could have been around when you were there.
Currently, the Vulcan is out in the back lot. It got moved out to make room in hangar B for the newly restored B-29, and for the C-54 to go in the restoration bay. It's been sitting out back since the museum relocated in 1998. It's scheduled to start basic restoration processes this summer. |

Sounds like you guys have been busy. I need to get back sometime. I'm planning on a trip back to Dayton when the Memphis Belle goes on display, some time in the next couple of years 2015-16. Just guessing at this point.
When that time comes, Willygoat, I'm hitting you up for the dime tour.. Last time I spent 3 solid days there, sounds like I could spend another 3...... SFX |

You bet Murph! So long as it is today, I shouldn't have any problem getting out to ya. Just message me on Facebook when you're free. I have that on my phone so I can get the message anywhere.
Swampfox, I look forward to it. I wish I could go to Dayton with you. I've wanted to go there for years. |
