Still gathering information. It's got some weird shapes near the nose, and I need to get a grasp on how to do them.

Just remember to bring some kind of government photo ID. IE drivers license , passport or like.

Do they have truck parking there? I could request hometime in Dayton, and spend a couple days camped out in the parking lot.

I like to keep a couple projects going at the same time so I don't suffer from burn out. Here's my next big plane project:

There is very large parking lot that your truck could easily fit. I just called the museum and they said for you to drive your truck all the way to the end of the main parking lot that is next to the museum. There are no parking bumpers in this area, it is designed for busses and large vehicles. Find a place in that area and you can park for a couple of days.

To see the X planes, they are in a separate hanger that I believe you need guide to visit. Make sure you get your name on the list. To do that, as soon as you walk into the main entrance, keep to the right, looking for the visitor booth. Stop there, show your ID and ask if there are tours of the X-plane hanger on the day your there. Sign up, and show up at the time they give you.

I know that they move the planes around a lot, so you may not need to sign up for anything.

I'm a lifetime member there and get answers to most basic questions you might have.

Have fun

Cool. I'll have to make some arrangements. Dunno when I'll get up there.

I've been fascinated with the KC-97 ever since I'd see them fly over the school I worked at in rural western PA. They were returning to their base at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. I'll follow your progress with great interest.
