I'm thinking of offering preprinted copies of my models for sale on my site. I won't print them myself, I'll go to a FedEx store and get them printed there. I have a couple questions though:
1) Is this a good idea?
2)Laser or Inkjet.
3) Should I adjust the models to a preset scale, or leave them as is? What scales? There will be multiple scales, based on the type of plane.

Yeah. This is more for those who don't have a printer, or are out of ink. Or like me have a crappy printer.

Sounds like a good idea for those that don't have a printer. Gives people the option of getting it digitally or as a printed copy. But as mentioned, the cost of shipping gets to be a bit much after awhile. I'd love to buy more printed stuff from overseas, but when you add it up and then postage comes to over thirty dollars, or more, well that's a deal breaker for me.
Me, I'll stick with the downloaded version. Not that i ever make mistakes, but if by some chance one day I did, I can just print another page.

Murph, that sounds like a pretty decent idea, I would bite. What are your thoughts about offering them in common scales? Larger planes, i.e. KC-10, B-2, would not lend themselves well to anything larger than 1/72, but some of the smaller ones, even something as large as the PV-1 could get blown up to fit on an 11/17 at ~1/32 scale.

That may be a little ridiculous.. and suited just to weirdos like me, just a thought.

What are the most common scales? I'd have to change the layouts of every model so paper doesn't get wasted. I'm thinking to set scales of 1/32, 1/48, 1/87. Anybody know what the common airliner scale is?

The models are already as big as I can get them to fit on standard 8"x11" paper, so they're gonna get shrunk to the closest standard scale. It's gonna take me a while to set up though. I have to change 200+ models, averaging 4 pages each. Then get them uploaded

Hi Murph,
Seems to me the most common scales for airliners is 1/100 and 1/144 for the larger ones, but I've seen them in other scales as well.

Bob
