Nice! Another way, beyond choice of aircraft prototypes, that our tastes overlap. I'm not a huge Transformers collector, but one thing I do have is a G1 Prime. Also have a G1 Jetfire, so it's on my list to make a glider conversion of a flight mode Macross VF-1 card model... along with a glider conversion of an F-14 in Jetfire's colors, thanks to an S&P F-14 recolor by cafe that I stumbled across somewhere on Bruno's thread.

Did you see that someone made a flying R/C Macross VF-1? Pretty dang impressive: compilation video, full first flight video.

So, that's one real challenge for you, Murph, to do the Macross VF-1 for your Science Fiction Page.

I'd love to, but since it's based on the F-14, and I still can't design an F-14 that I like...

Now that the DDA40x is out, I've been looking for alternate versions.

Version 1: Where Union Pacific went, so followed Southern Pacific. A predecessor to the DDA40X was the DD-35, which had a smaller cab and weaker motors. Union pacific bought a few, and Southern Pacific bought 3.
In real life, SP didn't buy the DDA40X. What if they did though?

Version 2: During the Bicentennial in 1976, Union Pacific wanted to paint up a locomotive to celebrate. One suggestion was to paint up a DD40X. That proposal was shot down by one vote.

Any Interest? Or suggestions for other schemes?

Some DDA40X "what if?" suggestions:
- UP black and gray livery, Big Boy-style
- Amtrak or a Canadian helper engine
- USAF Peacekeeper Rail Garrison locomotive

Hmm. Maybe UP's gray over charcoal passenger scheme would look good. Like they did with Challenger 3977.

if anybody is interested, the Centennial now has a friend to keep it company

Along with a hint at the next project.
