Giving it serious thought. I thought there was a model out there already though.

I don't know when this one will come out, but it wanted to be designed this weekend. Sooo,

The Lun CLass Ekranoplan:
Upcoming models-4udiyumuqq421.jpg

While researching, I discovered that two of them were actually built. Both were intended to be missile carriers, but after a disaster at sea involving one of their submarines, the Soviets decided to build the second one as a flying ambulance / hospital / Thunderbird 2 called "Spasatel". It was at about 95% completion when the Soviet Union collapsed, so like the second Antonov 225, it's been languishing in storage until somebody decides what to do with it.

Rumors are that there are talks of finishing it to be an Artic rescue vehicle.

The engineering on the Spasatel is complete.

Is that a viewing deck or someones "office" at the tip of vertical stab?

I've seen pictures of this ekranoplan before but never noticed that detail.

This subject is as much "oddball" as one can get without going too esoteric.

btw-are there any upcoming refreshed old models coming up?Any of the old projects still ongoing like B-47,Frogfoot,Canadian F2H-3 Banshee ?

Not sure yet. I ran through the In Progress folder and did some work on a few models, but my creative juices didn't start flowing. Then my computer gave me a blue middle finger of death, so I figured I was done for the day.

I've gotten a few requests to refresh the Rutan Boomerang, so this weekend I pulled it out of deep freeze and took a look at what it needed... It was one of my first models back in 2010 or so, when I was just beginning and hadn't figured out completely what I was doing. So, to make a short story long, after spending an hour trying to figure out former diameters and a Boomerang shaped wing spar, I gave up and decided to completely redesign the model from scratch, using better reference material that wasn't available back in 2010. Apparently it was restored back to flying condition in 2011, and made the airshow circuit, meaning lots of new pictures on the internet.

A Boomerang is very neat. I am still hoping you will be inspired some day to do a T-34A Mentor in your usual well-fitting and larger style.
