Just saw an article on the first privately owned F-16 in the US. It's part of a fleet owned by a company called Top Aces, and is based here out of Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona.

Supposedly they're going to be used as "aggressors" to train military pilots in air to air combat. Handy since we have a major air combat training base here as well (Luke AFB). Definitely an interesting paint scheme

Very interesting. Soviet Red Star on what looks like an Iranian paint scheme?

It's Israeli. The articles says they were bought from the IAF.

I was wondering if you are going to be updating your Cylon Raider?

It's updated. I just need to get around to building it to make sure nothing got messed up when I redrew it.

Two things:

1st: My laptop decided to have a "thermal harddrive cascade failure" escalating to a "total meltdown"...yes, there was fire involved.

Fortunately I was using it at the time, so managed to get things extinguished before they got out of hand. I did lose a good glass of chocolate milk in the process, though.

Unfortunately, the little SD card I back everything up onto was in the laptop at the time, and became a collateral victim.

I've already got a replacement laptop, but I need to see if I can salvage anything off of the old laptop's hard drive. Worst case scenario, I get to start everything from scratch (I hope not)

I did get the Saab Drakens uploaded before things heated up, but they might be a bit singed.

================================================

2nd: How different is Adobe Illustrator from Adobe Photoshop? I've been debating going to their monthly plan for Photoshop, and discovered they have the same plan for Illustrator. If I can learn it, it would be better to go with Vector graphics. (note, I have a severe inability to learn Inkscape. I don't know why. I've even paid for lessons and gotten nowhere.)

If you didn't like or understand Inkscape, you will have same issues with Illustrator(open source vs proprietary)

I managed to recover everything, so back in business.

Recently I discovered a Youtube channel called "Ron Pratt", which is run by a Ron Pratt of Midwest Truck in Missouri. He runs their towing and heavy recovery division. He wears a GoPro on his helmet, and films his various experiences throughout the day. It's great if you like shows like "Highway to Hell".

One of the stars of the channel is their 50 ton Rotator wrecker nicknamed "Tator".

After a few days of bingeing, I got inspired:
Upcoming models-model.jpg

This is gonna be a long term project. I plan on adding as many working features as I can figure out. I've already got a raising lift axle roughed in, and plan on a rotating, sliding and extending boom, deployable outriggers, and raising and lowering under reach. I'm also planning on designing and scaling the model around spools of thread for the winches.
Upcoming models-undercarriagr.jpg

I'm still working on other projects as well. I'm building the Lockheed L-188 Electra/ P-3 Orion this weekend, with hopes to get a few versions out on Monday.

Then I got jury duty.
