Tonight I was asked by my church to organize an "introduction to Paper Models" class for the youths of all ages in our congregation and neighborhood. There's no set date yet.
So far I have an introduction involving essential items needed for paper models (glue, metal ruler, scribing tool, toothpics, scissors and exacto knife). I'm debating having a building area with simple models of various themes for people to build and take home. Also possibly assembling small kits of tools for anybody who's really interested to take home, depending on budget. I'll also be demonstrating a behind the scenes of what goes into designing a model. What I was wondering is if there's anybody in the Phoenix, Arizona area that would be interested in coming by and letting me put some of their models on display. I'll have as many of my models as I can on display, and there will be a strict no touching rule, as well as an age limit for kids. I want to be able to show the true potential of the hobby, and how it's better than plastic. |

It might bee a good idea for all of use to make an effort to spread the hobby, give a class or display at some organization you belong to, enter them in model contest ( no rules stating they must be plastic) or even set out as a display. My wife got an award for cross stitched cavalrymen at a figure show, though it might have been they couldn't figure out how to judge it. I've added them to displays at the Air Force Museum at Cape Canaveral when possible. Also looking to see about doing a class at the 55+ community we just moved to.

For anybody who's worried, my site isn't going under. For some reason, the 10/5 renewal date got skipped (it usually shows me a "failed" message if there isn't enough money , but this time it doesn't say anything.) The next renewal date is set for 10/16. I can't find a way to force a manual renewal, and my web service provider has the same customer service that the Chinese government uses. Unfortunately I can't find another provider that doesn't require the patience of Job and a degree in website design to use. Neither of which I have, so I'm stuck with it for now.

Alrighty then. I'm not sure if anybody has noticed, but it looks like my web provider has disabled my site. I've done everything they asked (updated my payment information 3 ways from Sunday), but they don't have a way for me to manually make a payment to restore it. I've emailed them twice, and gotten no response.
The automatic payment is scheduled to occur on the 16th, which is tomorrow. If they don't take the money out and restore my site, I'm going to shut it down. Even if they do reactivate it, I'm going to give the search for a new provider top priority. Whoever owns Webs.com forgot the customer service part of the experience. Half of the links they provide don't work, and none of the working ones lead to a "talk to a live person" experience. All of the newer models from the past year or so are available on Ecardmodels.com, and I'll continue to upload new models there until I find a new provider and get set up again. |
