Northwest Florida
I am writing this on base at NAS Pensacola. Today my cousin and I visited aircraft displays and museums here and at Hurlburt Field and at Eglin AFB.
Tomorrow we hope to see the Blue Angels practice in the morning and then drive up to the USS Alabama and its adjacent display aircraft. The next day we will meet up with a couple of other paper modelers and spend a lot of time at the National Museum of Naval Aviation. My eyes are soaking in the vast array of aircraft and my skin is soaking in the Florida sunshine! |

Since you are in the area, don't forget the Army's museum up in Fort Rucker, Alabama, just a few hours drive from Pensacola. And welcome to the good life. You probably drove right by my house!

I am back in Minnesota, but I am longing for the land of pecans and airplane museums.
The National Museum of Naval Aviation is a hands on museum... no 'look but don't touch' signs. It is an amazing place. Bring your camera and tape measure and design a model! There is so much to see that I know that I will need a return visit... Maybe then I could visit Fort Rucker. |
