CASM Sproo Doo 2011

This past Saturday, my local IPMS club held their annual Sproo Doo Invitational. In addition to myself
with three models, Thomas Long (lepercan) made the trek from Oklahoma with 4 entries, and,
unbeknownst to me, Greg Stitz (gunnergreg) also entered a paper model. This gave us three paper
modellers, and eight paper entries. Thomas and I also set up a couple of display only tables with some of our work.

There were more people interested in the paper model work than I anticipated!
The response was almost overwhelming. I know I cannot count the number of conversations
(and how many times I had to go talk to folks) about my entries. I actually had to let some
of them hold them in the palm of their hand just to prove they were really card stock models!

In the end, (gunnergreg) took home a bronze, (lepercan) took home three golds and a silver,
and I managed three golds. In addition, my MT-LB was awarded the "Best in Class (Miscellaneous)" award,
even with some plastic models thrown in the mix!

It was really a great time, and I seriously enjoyed meeting some of the folks
I have only been able to talk to online. I had some great conversation with
Thomas, and thank him for making the trip!

I certainly had a great time. I saw a lot of people, especially kids, taking paper model sheets home to build.

Even better to see the interest in paper modeling you all create with these events. Keep up the good work.
