Can it be a sort of partly tracked vehicle? I am thinking of one that is half tracks and half skis. No armor, though, as far as I know.

As 1/3 of the Awards Committee, I say yes, Rob.

Even if the half tracks are not Archimedes screws.

Pencil it in on your calendar, and we'll let everyone know the details when the arrangements are confirmed.

Have these dates been firmed up yet? Curious as I'm trying to figure out my vacation for the year.

Thanks,

Greg

Potential Theme Models

The theme for this year's convention is unarmed tracked vehicles, including unarmed semi-tracked and Archimedes screw-propelled vehicles.

In response to a query from bpgeygolpher for construction vehicles suitable for children, hemingway, kcstephens, Hi-Torque, SCEtoAUX, and probably others by the time I finish typing, have all posted links to a variety of civilian construction vehicles, many of them tracked, and, therefore, suitable for the theme of this year's IPMC: card model construction vehicles

So far, no Archimedes screw-propelled vehicles have been included, but hope springs eternal: SCREW PROPELLED VEHICLES

Note that Geoffrey Pyke devised an Archimedes screw-propelled vehicle for use in Norway, but it was not put into production. Pyke was the inventor of the iceberg-aircraft carrier [code named HABAKKUK] to be constructed of glacier ice and sawdust, a material he called "Pykrete," with which Lord Mountbatten nearly wounded Chief of Air Staff Sir Charles Portal during the Quebec Conference in 1943 with a ricochet by firing his revolver at a block of the stuff, and no, Dave, I didn't make that up. You couldn't make this stuff up. I mean .. delivering beer by means of a Spitfire fighter!?

I'm thinking Orlik Komatsu dozer or WAK Type 1 Ho-Ki for my entry. Anybody up for a head to head challenge?

This is of course if somebody would confirm the dates as Oct 25-27 so I can firm up my travel plans (and get a better motel rate than the show rate like I did last time I stayed overnight there). Please, pretty please....with sugar on top.

All,

I've just uploaded the registration form for the 2013 International Paper Modelers' Convention. It's in the "Papermodelers' Self Help" section (I couldn't find a better place to put it!). As you can see, the fees are actually slightly less than they were last year, despite the fact that the exhibit room and meal costs have increased -- we had a decent surplus thanks to the auction and some thankfully-received donations. We'll get the form up on the IPMC web site shortly as well. The form includes information about hotel reservations.

The dates for the convention are 25-27 October 2013, and the format will be similar to previous years. I'll have a tentative schedule made up shortly and will post that also. As I mentioned earlier, we've locked in all three of the hotel's exhibit rooms this year, and we look forward to filling them up with more amazing displays. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and we hope to see you in October!

When you send me your form, please make sure to fill out your papermoders.com screen name on the applicable line. I use that to make up the convention name tags.

Took me forever to find the "Papermodelers' Self Help" section! LOL

For those that don't realize (like me)...its in the Downloads area.
(Top right of the page, click the Downloads tab)

Peter? how late can one sign up?
I am seriously interested in attending, I would probably be requiring two tables...

but I can honestly not make the decision until sometime in October.
(Money, Jobs and Family issues are all a factor for me and things change week by week)
