*2013* International Paper Modelers' Convention in Sterling VA

All,

It's not completely firm yet, but the tentative dates for next year's IPMC are 25 through 27 October 2013. The location will be the same as last time, the Hampton Inn Dulles Airport in Sterling VA. Pencil it in on your calendar, and we'll let everyone know the details when the arrangements are confirmed.

S&F&G,

Peter Ansoff

I'm definitely making it to this one. I might need somebody to give me a lift to the hotel though.

I'll be there. A reminder that, although all paper models are welcome, the special theme this year is unarmed tracked vehicles, including those propelled by Archimedes screws.

I look forward to meeting you, Aaron, and to seeing you again, Bob!

I understand that Kevin Stephens plans to complete his Dragon Wagon in time for the event. My plan is to complete at least one model. Ray Smith's plan is to convince his wife that this would be a good place to celebrate their anniversary.

I'll try to see if I can find a way to disqualify it, Dave!

I think our intent was to allow military vehicles that had no weapons or armor, but by the letter of what I said, an armored vehicle with no guns or other armament would be okay, especially if it ran on Archimedes screws and was powered by phlogiston.

We of the Awards Committee are not much into fine detail (unless it is on a model), rivet counting (unless they are really neat rivets), and nit-picking (under any circumstances).

In any event, we would all be delighted to see you and Little Willy next October, and I think an appropriate award would be a kitten.

I can't wait to see what Alan Wheeler does with all this for his Banquet entertainment schtick!

But before we consider this a done deal, I must note that, to the best of my knowledge and belief, the Dragon Wagon wasn't armored, either. And I hear that Anne McCombs, DrLaser, Gil Benson, and Jim Baker are all reading up on Archimedes screws (Texman is looking into 1/144 versions).

Meow.

I am NOT building a screw-powered vehicle!!!

But I am planning to be there, Lord-willing-an'-the-creek-don't-rise. Always a good time.
