Not on your itinerary but the Liverpool Maritime Museum, in the Albert Dock, is really worth a visit, and has a very nice collection of ship models, as well as some full sized exhibits outside, which you can wander over. I don't know about now but at one time the entrance ticket (very reasonably priced) to any Liverpool museum entitled the holder to free admission to all Liverpool museums and galleries for twelve months from the date of issue.
