42. There is an upper concourse where you can get a better view.
43. However all the aircraft have been pushed to one side to make room for the Show.
44. End of the show, and awards are being presented.

45. Too cold to go outside but I spotted this baby!
46. and someone got a little carried away with the black spray paint! lol
47. I would have liked to take a closer look at this "display" Golden Hawks Sabre.
48. another vintage RCAF jet (not Canada Forces)

49. The Museum entrance is impressive.
50. another attempt at some cool lighting effects...oh never mind.
51. a lovely bright day made for a very shiny Starfighter.
52. Looks like she needs some paint touchups.

Bummer about the show judges/judging. Now when you said that the Paper Model Entries table was gone at the end of the show....my first thought...did you get your models back?

Great set of photos btw.

It is a lovely museum, been there several times. Too bad about the IPMS attitude, but not suprising; they are not really open to us, and dont think paper is a serious medium.

Does seem strange that there are not other IPMS shows in southern Ontario this year?

Thanks for coverage, Dave.
It's too bad that you had such a disappointing experience with the contest part of the show, but the exposure of paper model building to the plastic community may be enough spark some interest in an open minded builder who's not afraid to try something different.
Thanks for promoting our hobby!

#36, it's a Canuck, not a Voodoo, the Voodoo is #48.

Nice display and effort put in, pity about the attitudes of the IPMS guys, I've experienced the same attitude here, paper seems to be almost frowned upon?
Otherwise, cool photos, the B-25 and Catalina look nice!

Niki

My Models were placed on the "Catch-22" table...right next to the "Paper Models" Table.

Yeah, sorry about that.

There was sign next to this plane that said Voodoo. But it was probably just pushed there, as everything was pushed aside for the floor space.
I just found it to be one the most unattractive planes in the room, thats all.

Re IPMS locals
There have been some serious comments made by the head guys at IPMS Canada recently about the general lack of IPMS support by many local chapters.
Seems many chapters don't care about IPMS nationally (or any other chapter for that matter) and are "operating independently" so to speak.
The major complaint is the lack of promotion and support for IPMS Canada in general (at events, in publications, etc).
I have a feeling that even if a precedent is set (like setting up specific paper categories and demanding capable judging) that many local chapters
will just ignore it anyway.
All I know is the guys from London IPMS were helpful, receptive, friendly and inviting. And in 2014 I will be contacted to help setup paper model categories.
I will most likely offer to be a "Judge" as well...unless someone with more experience steps up.

Thats awesome!

Keep an eye out for news...but unfortunately the show is not till
Fall of 2014, so there won't be anything for a while.

I am considering talking to them about expanding their event a little.
What if I could arrange the first Canadian Paper Model meeting at the same time?
Maybe the Paper Model portion of the Model show could be done by the Canada Paper Modelers group?
I could arrange to sponsor the competiton, have separate tables, put up signs and so forth
and do the judging and prizes. (I'm sure they wouldn't mind offsetting those costs?)
Maybe I can arrange for a room there and hold a "convention meeting"?
I'm sure something could be put on in conjunction with the IPMS event.
