Kenai, Alaska Air Fair = Stinson?

Stopped by the Kenai Air Fair yesterday. Saw something that I've never seen before. Looks like some kind of Stinson:

While taking these photos this was taxing out for take-off (two are stationed here and used as fuel haulers to the bush villages):

More photos to follow-bad day to upload, having some issues!

C46 Commando

Here is another Kenai Evert's Air Fuel work horse. The bright shiny one was out doing its job, this one was sitting around begging to be photographed:

What a neat looking office: Kenai, Alaska Air Fair = Stinson?-pict0050.jpg

The tanks that allow it to earn its $6100 an hour fees: Kenai, Alaska Air Fair = Stinson?-pict0061.jpg

Will try to post a few more next.

The tail number leads to "Convair L13A."

However, Wikipedia suggests Stinson.

The use of the Lycoming engine suggests Acme.

The previous tail number leads to Piper.

Boeing anyone?

Magnificent airplanes!

Stinson was a subsidiary of Consolidated-Vultee when the L-13 was designed and built.

Stinson L-13 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stinson L13 | Alaskafoto

Incidentally, the "LG" Buzz Number code was later reused for the DeHavilland L-20/U-6 Beaver. USAF Buzz Numbers

Don

PS: I assume the magnificent airplane iin the last three images of Post #3 is a former Star Air Service Fairchild 100 Pilgrim?

Hi Don,

Not sure, but I did catch a photo with one of the crews jacket, which does indeed say Pilgrim.

Was heading over to see my realator about an offer on a house I'm going to buy, so didn't have much time to ask many questions. Main reason I stopped was to take photos of the C46, when I found the Convair/Stinson. What an amazing airplane, huge! and it has Barn Doors to boot!

Thank you for the links, great reading!

BTW-All the trainers were giving $100 rides around the pattern! That is why they were so busy running around!

Mike
