Based on the results of a quick straw poll of the contact list, we're homing in on the weekend of 6-8 November 2015 for the next IPMC. We're still finalizing this with the hotel, but should have some definitive word by the end of next week. Stay tuned!

Attendance is a pretty iffy thing for me at this point (in case anyone cares! lol)
so I wouldn't expect you to make any decision that caters to me... but I can guaranty if its any later than October I won't be making the trip. With the distance I have to drive, the weather is such a big factor for me to consider. Based on how early the weather went bad this year, I don't think I want to risk it. We've had cold weather and damp conditions from the beginning of November! I won't comment about this past week. With the way winter seems to be getting earlier each year...is this a trend?... do you think you might be risking things by moving the venue to a later date?

All,
The 2015 International Paper Modelers' Convention will take place on 6 through 8 November 2015. The venue will be the same as in previous years, and the format will be basically the same as well. I had a conflict on our usual date (4th weekend in October), and the weekend after that is Halloween which was a problem for quite a few folks. I apologize to those who won't be able to make it because of the date change. I'm pretty sure that this will be a one-time issue and that we can go back to the usual schedule in 2016. Also, we are looking into some other changes (possibly moving to a new venue), and we'll have more info on that at the convention. At any rate, the dates are set and we'll have the signup info out as soon as we can. Pete Heesch and I are already looking forward to another great convention. Peter A. |

The Awards Committee still has the specific rules under advisement, but here is the working draft:
The primary purpose of the International Paper Modelers' Convention is the enjoyment and promotion of the art and craft of paper model design and building; the sharing of wisdom, tips, and techniques; the trading of stories about the craft and its artisans; and the sharing of camaraderie and good fellowship. Awards are bestowed in that spirit. PEOPLE'S CHOICE: The People’s Choice Award will be presented to the model voted "best" by all of the visitors and participants. A small card with a number printed on it will be placed by each model. Every person who walks through the door will be given a ballot to register an opinion as to the model they think is best by whatever criteria they choose. The model with the most votes wins. THEME CATEGORY: ANIMALS The Awards Committee will make the final determination if the model qualifies, but animals of all types may be entered. Terrestrial Mammals (such as Impalas, Jaguars, Panthers, Tigers, Wildebeestes, and Warthogs); Fish (such as Albacore, Swordfish, Trout, and Tarpons); Birds (such as Flycatchers, Grebes, Gamecocks, and Siskins); Mythical Creatures (such as Chinese Phoenixes [aka “Dead Chickens”], elves, and dwarfs); and human beings. AUTOMATA: Paper models with moving parts in which the movement of one part causes movement of one or more other parts. BEST TABLE DISPLAY: Prizes will be awarded on the basis of eye appeal, enhancement of the appearance of the models displayed, and overall impression. MOST UNUSUAL MODEL: Eye appeal and artisanship count, of course, but this one is entirely subjective, and one award, with one prize, will be bestowed by the impartial, implacable, indomitable, illustrious, indefatigable, and inscrutable Awards Committee. AWARDS COMMITTEE SPECIAL AWARDS (ACSAs): The Awards Committee will make a number of awards for categories to be announced at the time of the awards ceremony. These awards are intended to recognize contributions to the paper modeling craft, leavened by good humor and fellowship. Sorry to be clueless. As I've just gotten into the hobby, the convention would be ideal to see, where is it to be held?
