Cold War Jets display, Bruntingthorpe, UK
Some pictures I thought might be of interest to you all, especially the jet modellers.
This is a ground running display of mainly old British Military jets which are no longer allowed to fly by the UK CAA in civilian ownership as they are classed as "complex" types. It is still impressive to see them at full power down the runway. This display is held twice a year at Bruntingthorpe airfield, near Leicester, England. Here are some views inside the Super Guppy which was also available for viewing. This was previously used by Airbus for moving large sections of Airbus airliner fuselages and wings between their various sites in Europe.

A couple more of the Guppy plus some of the Shackleton that is in the midst of restoration. Apologies for the multiple replies, I can only upload 5 photos at a time.

More from the Shackleton. The basic airframe has been restored, it "just" needs fitting out now.
The last Photo is of the VC-10 cockpit. |

Here are a few of the fast taxi runs. I didn't take that many of the runs as many years ago I realised I was spending most of an airshow staring through a camera lens instead of just taking in the experience of seeing the aircraft in action.

Aeropunk,
Thank you so much for posting these. Aircraft like these will soon be slipping away. Too bad they can no longer be flown.

Aeropunk ... Did you happen to notice the tail number of that VC10?
I'm just wondering if it is an old friend, that I thought had been scrapped at Bruntingthorpe many years ago. If it is her, there's a group of us vets that would love to have a reunion in her front wheel well. Read all about it ... the story starts here ... page 107 finishing around page 115. One model per (non-working) day
