International Paper Modelers' Convention 2022
Mark your calendars for the next IPMC on 28-29 October 2022! The venue will be the same as in previous years: the Hampton Inn and Suites in Sterling, Virginia, a couple of exits down from Dulles Airport. The format will also be basically the same: set up and icebreaker sandwich buffet on Friday afternoon/evening, exhibiting on Saturday, and dinner/awards/auction on Saturday evening. We'll do the Saturday evening events down the road at the Holiday Inn like we did last year -- there was a lot of positive feedback for that and it worked well.
The not-so-good news is that we'll need to raise the rates a bit this year. The hotel costs have increased, and we've basically eaten though most of the surplus that we've carried over from previous years (the lower attendance because of COVID didn't help!). More details once I've done the math and the hotel activates their reservation page for us. More to follow, and meanwhile, Happy New Year! |

Thinking through my yearly travel plans at the moment. My intention is to be there in person and once again sponsor the "Silk purse" award.
Got plenty of prizes to choose from this year it seems.... Also, I intend on bringing some of the RJM estate models to sell. I can't bring it it all, so any requests on subject matter to focus on will be welcome. In order to not compete with Pete, I'll be leaving the jsc, and wilhelmshaven stuff here at home. I also won't be bringing the download stuff I can't sell that a few of our attendees have designed and may be offering at the venue (so no Airdave, Murphy or digital navy stuff). But I still intend to bring bunches of stuff to sell and give away as appropriate. So put your thinking caps on, you only have about 9 months left..... Greg

When I retire, no longer have to be back to work, I'm going to spend a whole summer down south, I'll make a visit to Carlisle and this Convention before I head back to Alaska.
I sure hope you all have fun this year! Mike |

I will be there. My wife will likely come as well.
This year I'm going to try to bring a few more of my scratch build models and have a whole table display! Anyone have any advice on shipping them to the hotel from Utah without getting damaged? As for the increased rates, I'm okay with it. Anything to keep the IPMC going. |

Greetings all,
I've just uploaded the registration form and schedule for the 2022 IPMC to the "Papermodelers.com Self Help Library" section in the Downloads, and they should be available soon. If you're on my contact list, you should also have received them by email as well. The basic format will be the same as last year, and the location is the same: The Hampton Inn and Suites Dulles Airport in Sterling, Virginia. Once again, we'll be having the Saturday evening festivities (dinner and auction) at the nearby Hampton Inn. Hotel information is on the registration form. A couple of reminders, for those who aren't on the email list: 1. You can pay when you get there. However, it would be great if you could send me your registration form (by email or snail mail) as soon as possible, so that we can plan for the display room setups and give the hotel the meal headcounts. 2. As a reminder, this year's theme is “The Sea — In, On, Under, or Beside the Sea.” We’re looking forward to seeing lots of ships, seaplanes, amphibious vehicles, lighthouses and aquatic creatures of all kinds! Looking forward to seeing everyone again in October! |
