Midwest Model Ships & Boats Contest adds paper models for 2023
Each Spring, usually in May, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum at Manitowoc holds the Midwestern Model Ships & Boats Contest, the longest-running ship model contest in the Midwest. The event is run in conjunction with the Nautical Research Guild.
The contest has long included both wood and plastic models. A month ago, I wrote to the museum to suggest the inclusion of paper models. Paul Fontenoy, editor of the Nautical Research Journal published by NRG, just told me that a category for paper ship models will be added for the 2023 contest. Dates for the 2023 contest have not been posted yet. In the meantime, you can check out the museum's Web site. I will be there with a paper ship model or two, and I hope to see a good showing by paper modelers.

Dates for the Modwestern Model Ships & Boats Contest
The event will be held May 19-21, 2023, at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc. There are two categories for paper models: scratch-built and kit-built. Details are on the website. Deadline for registering entries is May 1.
I will be there with a few entries, and I hope to see a few other paper modelers there, as well.
