A sad day in aviation

Today, sadly, the B-17 Texas Raiders was lost, with all crew, after a mid air collision with a
P-63 at the Wings over Dallas airshow. Both aircraft were lost. Prayers to the families of the air crews.

From the videos I saw, looks like something may have happened to the P-63. There were 2 other fighters flying well away from the Fort, and it looked like the Cobra was with them, but veered away and...

Regardless, R.I.P. both crews, condolences and prayer to their families from me as well.

WARNING;

Don't watch the videos if you have a sensitive disposition! I'm wishing I hadn't.

Saw the collision movie on a news site. Very shocking and sad both crews perished. It seems like the P63 lost control?

Terrible news! Prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones, and and those who saw it happen.

I don't think so. It was bad. Won't ever forget it.

@northtexasaerials on Instagram: "This was Texas Raiders last taxi past the crowd. The crew was definitely cheerful and waving to the kids. This would be a good way to remember them. Men, many of them likely grandfathers, doing something they believed in - doing a literal show and tell to help kids understand and remember history.

I just learned of this tragedy this morning. I’m left wondering what terrible thing will happen next. My wife just passed away the end of September so I have been dealing with that. And now to see something as horrible as this is really shocking. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those involved.

For those interested in the technical aspects of this mid-air, here is a link on YouTube. Great initial analysis.

'Wings Over Dallas' Mid Air Collision Report - YouTube

I am sure this will change future air shows just like the mid-air crash toward the crowed of the Italian aerobatic team in Ramstein Germany in 1988. The Deadliest air show in Germany | Ramstein Air Show Disaster | AVIATION CLUB - YouTube
