Pacific Airshow 2023
I was visiting family out near Huntington Beach in California this past week, and got to see a few of the entrants for the show. They practice on Friday before the weekend event, so you can just hang out on the beach. My pictures were on an old iPhone8 so I apologize in advance for the blurriness. I took videos last year but they weren't worth posting. In order: F-16 Thunderbirds, F-18, F-35 C-47. Note that the seagull and F-16s are not to scale ;-)

Thanks Don. It was unseasonably cool and cloudy. Normally the cloudiness occurs in June in that area (June Gloom). The Canadair Tutors performed a bit distantly compared to the other aircraft so I couldn't get a good closeup of the planes. However their precision flying was pretty amazing. My favorite was the T-33s (there were four last year), as I am a fan of the early jets having grown up in the jet age and space race. I did get to see a number of planes fly over my daughter's house as they returned to base throughout the weekend including an F-15 and F-22 as well. You really can't appreciate the size of a C-130 until it flies just a few hundred feet overhead.

A couple of days ago, I had a little air show of my own. I was in the car, waiting for Lil outside her hairdressers when I heard the sound of high performance engines. I looked up to see two A-10s flying low overhead.
I assume they were from the 104th FIghter Squadron, Maryland Air National Guard, since we are just 30 miles north of the Maryland border. It was nice to see the T-33s and the other aircraft images from your, rather larger, air show. Don |
