Oddball-o-rama entry Robinson R22, 1/40 and 1/200
Well, here's my entry, the R22, printed 2 pages of the plan on one A4 size paper. Exact scale should be 1/38.65 but rounded up to 1/40 to be in line with some of OBP's choppers.
I built the 1/200 first and thus messed up with the position of the muffler etc. Not until I built the larger one did I notice the errors. Okay I'll fix it later, re-do the engine on the tiny one. Papermate |

Very nice and neat! I'm a big fan of Aaron's helos, nice to see them being built. Now where's that OH/AH-6?

Thanks guys. The R22 is a relatively easy build but a lot of sculpting and burnishing is required to shape the canopy to make it look good.

I have to give Aaron credit on those helicopter cockpits, all those curves are tough, and he does a pretty decent job on them. Like you say, a bit of teasing, some patience, and you have a pretty slick canopy!

Thanks. I'm wondering if you guys have any tricks to prevent the rotors from stooping over time. The problem of build helicopters is that the larger/longer the rotors, the more likely that they'll stoop. Is there anyway to stiffen the rotors other than by inserting a wire? What I'm doing is to make it detachable. Just take it out and lie it flat on the desk and put it back for display.

So tiny. I tend to double laminate when I make a rotor blade. Glue both sides of the rotor to a peice of cardstock, then cut almost all the way through the center line, fold and glue. Haven't had any droop yet.

Rotor blades, I use florists wire, thin but stiff.
