Ok - a little progress to show. There doesn't seem to be any 'banana effect' present - so I think I'm doing ok. The seams leave a bit to be desired, but given that I'm working with 20+ year old paper that wants to rip instead of cut and with lines that are grainy / faded at best - I'm pretty happy with the results.

On a side note, the 'slow down' in building again is due to a shift change back to days and getting used to the different schedule. Unfortunately I found out saturday that my company (an automotive supplier of 65 years) is going out of business and that I'll be out of a job by the end of the month. As I was an optimist to the end hoping they'd make it, I've only started sending resume's out a week or so ago, so I'm going to join the growing number of unemployed people in Michigan. Luckily my wife works, and we'll be able to get by until at least the end of the year for me to find a job (I doubt it will take that long, I feel I have a strong resume with 15 years experience at a small company being underpaid and wearing many different hats at different times. Anybody know someone looking for a Chemical Engineer / Quality Engineer in the Detroit Area?).
If there is a bright side, it's that I'm going to be home taking care of Niklas and looking for a job soon. Besides the quality time with my son (which I expect I will look back on and cherish some day despite of the circumstances surrounding it) - I expect I'll be able to slip in a bit more modelling than I've been doing.

Great start on the Shoki, bummer on the job situation. I hope something turns up soon for you. In the meantime enjoy the time with your young one and build, build, build.

Shoots, Dan!! I really hope you can be on a payroll very soon... as your optimistic aura is one of your best tools for the job.

Very well done on the Shoki, BTW. Are you using the double of knives on the model, as the paper gets rough?

Sorry to hear that Dan, I guess the whole industry has been so unpredictable. I hope the unexpected works out well for you, it certainly can. And we won't complain about more airplane pics!

Sorry about the news Dan. Join the club! At least Summer is coming and you have a hobby to fill your time while you wait for answers to your applications. At least that's what I tell myself also.

I enjoy watching your builds, even for a Maly monster.

Dan -- I'm just now seeing your post (sneaking a peek at the Forum from the office) and would like to add my good wishes to those of the other friends regarding the job situation. I remain convinced that there will always be a place for someone of your talent and strong character. I'm glad that there are a few positive circumstances -- some continuing income and the chance to spend time with Niklas among them.

On the model front, the fuselage looks absolutely straight and true and you are well ahead of me. I hope to get some modeling in this weekend and will be delighted if my Shiden fuselage turns out like that.

Best wishes,

Don

Dan,
Add my good wishes for employment to the group. These are not easy times, but we'll get through them. The start on the Shoki is a solid one and I look forward to more pics!
Chris
