Hey guys, Thanks for all of your nice comments. I'm surprised that the fit of this kit is so good. With all of the MM horror storys that I have heard I guess I lucked out with this one. I really did not expect it to go together as well as it is.
Oh...Thanks for the answer, Charlie, I figured if anyone would know it would be you. |

WOW!
You actually made those hatches movable I'm no fan of the tracked kind but this does look extremely good.

Hinges and Hatches
Today I had some extra time to build a few more hinges and an other hatch for the SU. I figured I'd post a step-by-step tutorial on the hinge construction to help folks out should they have any questions. These little hinges are really quite simple to build especially after you make a few. My only problem is that they are just so tiny and my fingers are so big making it hard for me to fold and glue them in half.
First, cut out the parts for both halves of the hinge. Then, take one half and lay it on top of the wire that will be used as the pin to attach the two halves together and carefully bend and form it around the wire and glue it together. Repeat this with the other half. Once both halves are glued and dry, slide the two halves together and insert the wire pin. Test the hinge to make sure it swings open and closed freely...some minor trimming may be required. Once it works smoothly, remove the pin, trim it to the correct length and replace it. To finish the hinge, attach a small drop of glue to one side of the pin to keep it from working itself out. |

Here's a picture of the hull with the addition of the new hatch.

I think the periscope in the right hand flap of the access hatch should point towards the front. The instructions of the model are no help but it looks that way on the cover illustration.
It helpful to grind the ends of the wire hinge pins flat with a Dremel (or similar) - lookd even more convincing. Regards, Charlie. |

I might be a bit too late. But regarding left and right markings, in polish P (prawy) means right, and L (lewy) means left.
Exceptional work on this old model, by the way.

That's some beautiful work, Kevin. Very clean and dress right dress.
If it's too late to turn the periscope, then we just have to assume that the vehicle commander (or whoever would be under that scope), just happened to be looking to the rear at the moment you trapped the assault gun in amber. Don |

Charlie -- What was I thinking? (picture of me slapping my forehead) Of course the vehicle commander's position would be under the cupola. Another case of me typing faster than I was thinking.
Anyway, your Su-100 looks great, Kevin! Don |
