OTDAEABT Contest - Maly Modelarz PWS-A (BH-33)
My challenge arrived today, thoughtfully packed in 1mm chipboard.
A quick look though the kit reveals that I lucked out a little. Printed for 12/95 this kit has the hand-drawn graphics and somewhat sketchy printing of earlier kits, but on much higher quality cardstock. Really the the panel lines and such are quite finely drawn, but one page is just enough off-register to be noticable. Starting on this kit is going to have to wait a day or so to finish up the Skyline Claude. I don't know if this gives me extra credit for persistence, or demerits for delays. The penny BTW is 1904<G>

OK The Claude is done. Nice kit BTW, but yet another continuation of my Love/Hate relationship with wheelpants.
Bench cleared (sort of at least) Check! Former patterns laminated to .75mm stock to make up 1mm total (judging from the size of the slots and such) Check! Instruction drawings stuck up on the magnet strip over the workbench. Check! Pages laid out for the obligatory pre-start shot Check! Camera ready and ..On whirbzt Not so Check Batteries dieing and the power zoom lens develops a bad case of ED. Try to rob batteries from DVD remote et c. and discover that I'm too late. Perils of having two teenaged kids and all of the battery operated accoutrement thereof. <sigh> Good batteries on charge, and you'll miss the virgin layout shot. Screw it, I'm cutting formers!

Ahhhh...the old dead batteries routine - that's bound to be a penalty of some sort. There are no bonuses/penalties for late to start, first to finish, last to finish - just the date 17 MAR 2008 and the question complete/not complete?

What Knockers!
Basic frame going together. Everything has been fitting well so far. I had to trim a little to make allowances for the framing thickness. I think it really wants something even thinner that what I'm using. If I'd laminated it to 1mm as called out I would be cursing already. Cockpit detail is...ummm...sparse. Probably just as well as the cockpit hole is rather small anyway. I suppose it's better than building every last little tiny bit then closing it away where you'd need a borescope to appreciate it. While the fit (what there is of it so far) has been good, the parts numbering is completely illogical. The cockpit is 14-19 while the outer skins are 1,2,3,and 4. Oh well that's what makes this a challenge innit? I don't have any other pictures of the Claude yet. Once the batteries were in the camera I started cutting and gluing.

Excellent start on a very interesting airplane. If the Claude is any indication, this is going to be one pretty machine.
