Cereal Box Toy Premiums are Back!
Except this time, they're for cats. Just found this on the side of a Little Friskies box. It's the ZOOMER! Almost as much fun as a laser pointer! And socially conscious, too (or protecting the company from a nutbag lawsuit).
"Caution: to ensure the safety of your pet, supervise your pet at all times during play. Do not all your pet to play with the toy if any of the toy comes loose or separated. This toy is intended to be used only with supervision." The box doesn't warn you against allowing your cat to put his head in it, so watch out for that. If you can't wait to have one, PM me and I'll send the full-sized jpeg image. Print it out so that the toy measures 5 3/8 x 7 3/8 apex to apex (the box side measures 5 3/4 x 13 1/2). Of course, you will have to laminate your print on sturdy cardboard. I recommend cereal box cardboard as it has the requisite strength, durability and is readily available. If you have any further questions, please contact Little Friskies for expert advice. Sit back and enjoy!

What does a ZOOMER look like? Went to the Friskies site and don't see anything about it. They do have a number of downloadable games for your cats to play on your tablet computer, however ... LOL. When my cats become more computer savvy than I am is the day I need to take a refresher course at the local community college.

I can just see a Cat "using" the mouse...or would that be "abusing"?

Hmnnn ...... Perhaps I'm missing something here. A little cardboard pyramid for the cats to bat around makes sense. But if there's a treat inside, our cats would tear the paper structure apart immediately. If I made the toy out of sturdier materials, could they still get the treats out?
A larger question I've had for a long time is why so few companies even know about paper modeling. Seems to me that subsidizing paper models of delivery trucks or special equipment, models downloadable from the company website, would be an effective and inexpensive promotion, but it's rare in this country. At the very least, the Friskies people deserve considerable credit for their effort.

Thanks for the Image.
To me the big question is 'Why did so many companies stop doing Cutouts?' |

Sales and Profits drive everything in business. Must be something to do with that.
