horizontal directional drill

Scratch building a horizontal drill from scratch. Quite frankly tried the gmax programs etc. Didn't make sense so thought I'd just buikd it. Got no idea if I'm doing it rifght or not but feel free to give headers pointers or anything else

An interesting choice there... I love the construction related stuff and it's nice to see something that as far as I know, hasn't been done in paper yet. Off to a good start.

Thanks. I've searched everywhere I can think of but can't find a paper model anywhere. Know a couple of guys who would kill to have one so I'm hoping to get this one done and get some sort of template worked out. Just don't ask me what scale its in, I got no idea

horizontal drill

Built and mounted the rod box, next up the chassis and the tracks. Not as easy as I thought but its coming out not too bad

horizontal drill

Chassis complete, rod box in place. Next up the swing out seat and augers. Then all the extras. Light at the end of the tunnel

Wink horizontal drill

Got the fuel tank, anti-freeze tank and seat done. Also got the bed piston in. Please keep in mind I have no references for sizes of the parts. I'm doing this out of my head. Being a horizontal drill operator does help of course

Westley, your model would qualify for this years theme challenge at the IPMC in Sterling, VA of Un-armed tracked vehicles. If your close enough stop by in October and enter it. International Paper Modelers Convention Show Awards
