LIFE`S A BEACH
(paper automata) Author: Keith Newstead Source: keithnewsteadautomata.com (printed model) Video: - I reached into the archives and glued another nice automaton by Keith Newstead, pasted from the original without modification, I just had moving eyes left after one 3D puzzle, which I quite liked with this surfing dog, so I used them... Unfortunately, since Keith's death in 2020, his website and Etsy shop no longer function.
It would be great to find a legitimate source for his work. (google searches haven't revealed much...) All my best... P-lite |

I didn't even know that Keith died... it's a big loss, he was my favorite automaton author... I managed to get something from his work when the websites were still working, but I still don't have some things...

Fox
(paper automata) Author: Rob Ives Source: Free Printable Fox | Creative Center Video: https://youtu.be/zAp2x8dxKqE Another automation from Rob Ives, who is one of the prominent authors of kinetic models. A few of his things can be downloaded from the Canon site, but at the moment far more of his stuff can be found on the Brother site. It also has its pages. This time I glued the automaton of the running fox, the automaton works, it just moves a little harder than I had to strengthen some parts of the movement mechanism. A few photos: |

Dragon Ball
(PAPER AUTOMATA) Author: Keisuke Saka Source: etsy.com Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6ZGi9swMmQ Another automaton by Keisuke Saka that can be bought on Etsy. This is probably my first ball automaton with an interesting gear and belt transmission. Built with no modifications except that I printed the back of the parts so I didn't have to retouch so much the white areas that would be visible... |

Train
(PAPER AUTOMATA) Author: Keisuke Saka Source: internet - free model Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2_ioVSqixQ I don't have much time to glue at the moment, but I managed to glue at least another automaton by Keisuke Saka which I downloaded from some Japanese website, the instructions are in Japanese, but the pictures are enough. It probably has a different name, but I don't know much Japanese. I glued what I could, there is a not very ideal perpendicular transmission through the gears, which is quite stressed, so I preventively impregnated the wheels with superglue which definitely helped. Hesitation
(PAPER AUTOMATA) Author: Keisuke Saka Source: etsy.com Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw_IMfvTQ-o Another automaton by Keisuke Saka, which clearly shows that even with a simple gear, an interesting and funny automaton can be designed. This automaton can be purchased on etsy.com. (pdf: 4 pages with parts + 2 pages with instructions) I didn't make any modifications, I just printed the back so I didn't have to manually cover the white areas that are visible. When gluing everything fit and the finished automaton works nicely and smoothly. |

Very nice. Not sure how I missed the train. This may be the first time I have seen it built
