Possibly the largest aircraft paper model kit in history- YG Model 1:33 An-225
Hello all!
Got some exciting news this morning from my Facebook feed as I follow some Polish vendors for updates and new releases. Now on preorder from YG-Model and available through third-party vendors is possibly the largest paper aircraft kit: YG-Model 145/147 - Antonov An-225 'Mriya' in Soviet (without Buran) and Ukranian colors; 1:33 scale I saw a YouTube video by the designer a while back previewing the kit but was a little skeptical it would release anytime soon until now. Model will measure 254cm by 266cm (that's 8'4" by 8'9" for my fellow Americans) when completed, beating GPM's infamous B-52 by over half a meter. This makes it possibly the largest (by size) paper model kit of an aircraft ever sold. Each kit (through the manufacturer) is priced at 3,500 hryvnia (~$91.50) for just the magazine alone. Anyone on the forums brave enough to take this one on? |

Purchase links
Here's some links to online stores that currently have YG145/147 in stock (as of 2/19/24) since I neglected to add them in my initial post:
YG-Model, Ukraine (USSR, preorder) YG-Model, Ukraine (Ukranian, preorder) GPM, Poland (USSR only, in stock) Orlik, Poland (USSR only, Ukranian arriving soon) I'll update this list when new listings become available. |

This is mad as frogs and we wouldn't have it any other way.
$91 (£72, E84) is pretty good value for such a monster: the 'tiny' Revell Mrya in 1:144 goes for well upwards of £100 for a kit with no landing gear and the superlative ModelSvit 1:72 is £500-700 plus delivery.

Yikes. And I worry about having enough storage space to display a third 1/32nd-scale X-15….

That's absolutely phenomenal!!! 2.7 metres!!!! Imagine the frustration if you were to make a mistake with the main wing spar!
It must be quite heavy as built?! I'm gonna get one!! Regards, Alan |

Hmm. Now I have to beat that. I thought I had the record tied up with the Fiddlersgreen Me-321 Gigant. Maybe I'll have to shoot for a 10 foot wingspan when I finish the Stratolaunch Roc.

Grzegorz Pomorski (founder-owner of GPM) states on the company FB page that the model weighs in at 3.7kg (just over 8 lbs).
