1/6th Plastic Souyz and Apollo (WIP)

The old girl. Reference material was not that good when I built her almost 10 years ago.

I recently happened upon these photos, and knew at once it was time for a revamp. That turned into a complete new vehicle.

The life support system.

Comander's couch. I went with brass for the "joy" stick controler's housings for max strength in the finished model.
In June of 1970, the crew of Souyz 11 was returning home from a great three week stay on the first space station Salyut 1. They had become TV stars in Russia, and their return should have capped off a perfect mission.........except they died on the way back to Earth. A tiny valve opened early and the crew, not in spacesuits at this time died from the sudden decompression. After the flight the flight engineer's seat was removed and replaced with the life support set displayed above. The now two man crew would wear spacesuits. This model of Soyuz 7K-T flew from 1970 into the early 80's when it was replaced with Soyuz-T and a return to three spacesuited crews. The Soyuz of Apollo-Soyuz was a7K-TM two man ship with the life suport system like I'm modeling.

Apollo is in the work shop too!
Enjoy, comments always needed.

I'll put some up tonight. The couches have been completetd recently, but the Soyuz has been taking my modeling time for a while.

Small update.

Couches finished.

Couple of little do-dads. The silver box is a fuse box, the grey one is part of the recovery beacon.

It has a couple of power points for a head set and a M-code key.

Three valves extension handles.
