I've yet to pick up v4.0 yet. I'm interested in what changes make it seem less about people being in one room?
I personally felt v3.0, ie. the D20 system, was too miniature specific. While it's nice to have mats and layouts for big battles, it just got way too involved with all the 'attack of opportunity' crap.

Hmmm - I miss having time to play games and money to pick them up when they come out...

Oh I hear that! When I was in high school and university, I had the time for games, but no money. Now I have the money, but no time!

Oh, and no opponents either.

And no place to play thats cat and kid proof.

While I played DnD and Boot Hill, I have to admit I was more into Gamma World myself. As to a board game, while I enjoy a good game of Risk, I have to admit that I am a fan of Diplomacy more. I still remember playing into the wee hours of the morning.

I had forgotten about Gamma World.
Ever play Grand Imperialism? Kind of a cross between Risk and Monopoly in a way

More and more of my spare time is being gobbled up in game graphics design.

Here are some examples of the stuff I am working on. This is a map and counter-set for a wargame called "The Alamo Remembered". I have been working on it for a couple months for a company called Victory Point Games. Its fun, and brings in a tiny amount of cash, but it also has taken over all my model building time. I am still trying to build but its hard to find the time for both things.

Oh well. At least I find map making fun. The game is scheduled to be released in a month or two.

Thought I would update this old thread with something both game And model related-

Waaay back in 1977, a tiny scifi-wargame was published called "Ogre". The game was based on a famous scifi series of short stories about giant self-aware cybernetic tanks called Bolos. The game has been in and out of print many times since then. The latest version was via "Kickstarter" and its Huge! By Far the largest game I now own. And it comes with kool 3D (well, more 2.5D) stand-up model tanks to fight. Here is a pic of the original version I owned, which was published in a plastic video box in 1989, and the newest. And also here are two pictures of the original mat and counter along side the new monster edition.

Size does matter!

Loved the original Micro and Metagames. G.E.V was one of my favorites as was Warp War! Like the game piece you show for the Ogre!
The really old versions I had were packed in a small cardboard box.

Its a classic game. I got it mostly for the nostalgia value. I am planning on playing it this Sunday with some friends. It will be just like high-school!
