I have seen now the Bald Eagle again at the park where I play tennis. I see him (or her?) now for three weeks consecutive in the early evening. It is the most magnificent bird and much larger than when you see the hawk and osprey at the same place.

The Bald Eagle is a beautiful bird...and definitely towers over most other raptors.

My brother and I were talking about Bald Eagles last night. He has a nesting site not far from his place in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan. His entire family loves watching the eagles there.

Should you ever get the opportunity to head to the west again, look for the Golden Eagle. As majestic as the Bald Eagle looks, the Golden is, in my opinion, even more majestic.

One of my favorite Bald Eagle shots isn't a great image, but I like the way it looks. You can see the image here.

One of these days, I hope to see a Golden Eagle in an even better scenic view and get a good image of it. 8v)

Oh he is nice thank you! I fear if I go back to Kerch I will not be able to see such birds. But we have some birds there of course. But I like the wild life in the USA. Florida in particular we have very many things to see all over and with out so much effort.

Anything that flies

As a newly minted member of PaperModelers I'm finding all kinds of people with all kinds of interests.

If it flies, I've always been interested. Birds fly, so...........

We live in a remote part of Central Colorado, in a bio-transition zone where all kinds of migrating birds show up......

Sandhill Cranes, Pinon Jays, Turkey Vultures, Mountain Blue Birds are always showing their feathers somewhere in the area.

Yesterday afternoon, we heard a pounding sound.....twice within about 3 seconds. We've come to recognize the sounds of an occasional bird strike, but 2 within a couple of seconds is very unusual.

We went to the window that the sound from and sitting on the ground was a Ring Necked Dove sitting very still!! Stunned from the impact? NO!! Hiding from a Northern Goshawk that had just killed and was eating it's companion!!! I wouldn't go into any detail, needless to say it was a vivid example of Mother Nature at work.

I didn't have the presence of mind to grab the camera before it took off with it's prize into the forest.

Cool birds you have! We are getting migrants daily now, hummers and osprey back, as well as loons on the lake (5 this am). Haven't seen a Goshawk for awhile, although they nest at higher elevations (4000 ft.) where available for them. We had quite a few Merlin this winter in town and while I was taking pictures of swallows a Sharp-shinned flew in and chased a swallow twisting and turning down to the water, missed...

Nice Sharpie, those glowing red-orange eyes are so cool.

We have Bald Eagles at a couple of the lakes in the area, but I never have been able to get a decent image of them.

Posting a Nut Hatch that showed up at one of our feeders a couple of hours ago.

Much to my surprise I got a better digital camera as a gift and am really having fun chasing about the local birds to get pics of them. No luck with a pic of the White-breasted nuthatch yet, but still trying..we do have a pair of Eagles (bald) and a couple Osprey pairs nesting locally... so many nice birds about this time of year.. the "dawn chorus" is getting full with voices (some tree frogs peeping in as well)
