My "Other" models

Lately I have been having motivation issues with my current paper projects, so I switched media for a bit. Here are the results of that effort: A 1/24 Italeri model of a Volvo VN 780.

I use a mix of paints but here is what I used where:

Frame - Krylon satin black
Cab - Model master Diamond Dust lacquer with a clear coat.
Interior - Model master fabric gray lacquer.

Details - various acrylics - Tamiya, Polly S, Vallejo and a little bit of Gunze Sangyo aqueous.

The cab paint is far from perfect but doesn't look bad from a distance. I do not use an airbrush so everything was either sprayed from a can or brushed on by hand.

I've had this kit since about 2007 (right after I started paper modeling) and decided to finish it as a diversion.

I am a sucker for certain types of plastic models (mostly automotive) and this one was no exception.

This is the Meng models Ford F350 kit. It is 1/25 scale, which makes it even more tempting.

This is a pricey kit with an MSRP of $75. I found this one on line for about $55 (with shipping). I couldn't pass it up.

Any way here are some particulars of my build:

Fit was excellent. The only negatives are the tires are not very "off-roady" and do not interface with the rims very positively. Squish them slightly and they'll pop loose.

Body paint is Testors One shot lacquer over the corresponding primer.

various other colors were acrylics of various brands: Tamiya, Poly S, Testors, and Vallejo. Interior was sprayed with Testors enamel desert tan and the frame with krylon flat black.

Anyway, here's hoping they do Chevy and Dodge versions as well.

Very nice model.

The extended load bed arrangement is interesting - part of the kit?

Yes it is. Actually you have the option of it like this or folded into the inner bed sides.

Other options are choice of running boards and wheels.

Thanks for the compliment!

The Meng kit is really nice. Just a bit pricey for me especially since I really don't like the design on the new pickups. Plus I've been spending too much on the ICM kits of WWII period cars like the Opel.

Beautiful models, Greg.

Remembering your Ford GPA at the IPMS event, I was going to ask if they were GPM or Orlik.
