Has a Baldwin look to it, but not familiar enough with all their models to definitely say which.
Having to add protective doors, that sounds familiar. Celebrating my 1 year anniversary of retiring from bus driving and dealing with riders. |

Happy Anniversary Wayne. Hope all has gone well.
It seems just like yesterday you retired!

No joy here on No. 5, but I am glad to learn about the African Rail & Traction Service.
I agree with Wayne about the Baldwinish look, but it also (except for the squared off cab cover) seems to resemble an early ALCO switcher (S-6, specifically). Hope you are enjoying the retirement, Wayne. Don |

Thanks guys, so far it beats working.
Don, that would have been my second guess that its an early ALCO, but with the exception of a few pent roof cabs never seen one that didn't have a rounded roof. |

Alco's have never been common in Africa, although this does not rule out Alco!
I'm stumped as well. Need to find my loco book.

Looks a lot like an EMD G18.

I think you're right. I just took a look at Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_G18
