Gibson SG Carving

Hello one and all. During the first hit of covid I decided to make a model of the famous Gibson SG guitar. I have carved this from soft wood. I used other materials too.

Phenomenal!! Great replication of a wonderful instrument. My first electric guitar was a budget version based on the '61 (or '62?) model, an Epiphone G-400. I had a lot of fun playing it, good memories!!

Thank you. The epiphone' s are great, in fact I had an original SG for a while and through one thing or another and a few years after, I owned the same as you have, to be very honest... price for price the Epi was better. Its nice to have an original SG for sure, but... At the moment I have the Vintage brand of SG with all Wilkinson pups and hardware, it's not a Gibson but plays just as good. Thanks again for the kind comments.

That is too freakin awesome!

The fact that it is wood makes it even more cool.
Nice job.
The neck must have been a real challenge!

I have a miniature Lucille.
I bought it years ago, just after I met BB King.
He gave me a few items including some autographed photos...I was going to make a shadow box display with the miniature Guitar, but never got around to it.
These are molded plastic Guitars, but they have lots of detail.
Even the knobs turn and you can strum the strings.

Very cool Peter. Always wanted an SG but my playing talent doesn't warrant it ;>)

Cheers Dave. The neck took the longest to make. It's fretboard is a thin slice of rosewood, the frets are very fine wire. The miniature you have is awesome. I haven't put the strings on my model yet.

Gibson SG Carving-screenshot_20210618204855.jpg

Seen on the Facebook market today. Is anyone interested? Seems very cheap to me, so it might be a scam. I am slowly renovating a 1963 Strat which I recently acquired for a song, so I'm not in the market for an SG.
