old stuff

Hi All;

While setting up an update yesterday, I happened to whack my knee against something that got done years ago before the tremors set in. Then the thought occurred, ' Hey, why don't you start this? They still look pretty good after all these years." So... Some are water colors, some are acrylic. Ran out of storage space in the workshop, so there are a lot of unframed works lying around. Art doesn't serve much purpose if nobody looks at it.

Regards rjccjr

Awesome. I like nr4-it reminds me a lot of illustrations in SF books I read way back. Thanks for a memory trip

If shipping wasn't insanely expensive as it is ,I would buy some of your work. I have some empty walls to hang them on and those look great.

Beautiful paintings, I especially appreciate the 4th and last two.
In particular, the coast next to the lighthouse remembers me the Giant's Causeway.
Really nice!

other stuff update

Hi All;

Here are a few more. These were done some time ago when I still had steady hands. Those paintings which are of real subjects are pretty well researched, just like the ship designs.

Beautiful! Do you mind if I ask what kind of tremors you have? I've been diagnosed with general tremors and have been trying different treatments. Also, have you ever tried painting digitally? With a pen and tablet? Some software has stabilized brush options that steady the strokes.
If you'd rather not discuss, I understand.

re old stuff

Hi Shadow Cory;
I understand your plight very well. There are at least eight different types of tremors. The NIH has a good fact sheet pertaining to them. The diagnosis and treatment is a matter between you and your neurologist and I wouldn't presume to get involved. They were only mentioned to illustrate the fact that the paintings can't be done now. This is a situation that I just have to live with, and compensate as best I can. As to the subject of computer drawing, the design of DD-793 was accomplished using Microsoft Paint. It's slow and tedious, but the advantage is that the drawings can be worked pixel by pixel. The result is pretty accurate. The time spent on research and history is about equal to the time spent drawing. The build is much faster. There is no pretense of being a good build, it's more of an exercise in stamina and refusal to quit. Here is the last painting done when there was still some control. It's about five years old, acrylic, and 28x24" in size. Getting old is a real nuisance. Your only defense is to keep getting older, and learn to compensate as things fall apart. Hope this information is useful.
PS: I have to type out text on Microsoft Word, then get rid of all the typos, then cut and paste onto the message. Compensation.
Regards rjccjr
