Pickled cucumbers or just pickles as we call them

Cut up some of the cucumbers to make pickles. I cut long strips, medalions, and wedges. Should be ready in around 6 weeks. Going to let them sit a while to get the flavors all nice and developed.
Got a good seal on the lids.

Interesting, I know about slices, spears, and whole, but never have I seen planks, but this is probably great on sandwiches

Rick, there is a brand of pickles I buy that has what they call Sandwich Slices. That designation is on the jar label. I decided make some of them.

Before canning lids got so expensive, we did spears, slices and sandwich slices, too. Only problem with that is that we would often have three jars open in the fridge...

Strips? Medallions? Wedges? Such sophistication hasn't got to my neck of the woods yet. It's whole fruit or nothing.

What flavor of pickles are you doing? Dill, Bread and Butter?

This came up on my browser just now. It's all about Bread-and-Butter Pickle Sandwiches:

I put some black peppercorns and garlic cloves in the jars too. From what I have read if you add garlic they are kosher dills. Not a religious dietary restriction, just dill pickles with garlic.
