Droids Made From Bits & Pieces

In between building paper/card models, I sometimes throw together droids made from scratch. I use bottle caps, bits of wire, crafting beads, paper, old watch components..... Anything that looks vaguely useful.

I like to weather them, as they would when deployed on surveillance missions in the field. I've built seven so far.

Reminds me of channels like Bill Making Stuff and Studson Studios. Great imagination to make them all different with the same set of components.

They're very nice, and made me smile. They display the sort of imagination I'm so lacking in, alas.

Beutiful and funny! I like them!

BTW, I often hesitated why the robots en masse were called "droids". Perhaps it was a Star Wars movies heritage. The name looks like abbreviation of "android" so only the human-like forms should be called droids (C3PO but not R2D2), but the word itself is short and convenient to use so perhaps it can't be helped.

Yes. I'd like to make them resemble humans a bit more. I haven't figured out a way to make arms/legs...

These all have a good different character and maybe personalities too. Some one should animate these, would make a nice cartoon. Well done.

I like these!

They are the perfect blend of whimsy and function. Also a good example of what you can do with everyday items if you let yourself turn loose.

Too fun! If you wanted to model something from fiction, Bender from Futurama or Tom Servo from Mystery Science Theater 3000 could make good prototypes. But also I like your original creations there, very artfully done.
