Steam Punk Beetle
I have been keeping an eye on Robotime for a while - you will find a few threads on the forum
Recently I found their subsidiary -ROKR - Who seem to have kits of wild ideas - Here's one of them. It is called Stag Beetle. I only found this on their website in China. Even Amazon doesn't have it. My first worry was the cost of shipment to the UK. They told me it was $5. I was surprised that it would be delivered within a week. On time I received the box with loads of parts metal, plastic, LEDs a minute electric motor and s spring! All the small parts were in numbered plastic bags. The base came as one piece with three batteries. A touch switch was on the top. The last bit was the instructions more like a 26 page manual. Interestingly, there was a clause in the manual saying that due to customs policy the kit did not have the grease or nipper pliers but did say "please prepare them yourself " Building the model was easy to follow with the detailed instructions although I did have a few problems with the fit of some of the parts, luckily luck was on my side;-) The first couple of pictures show the clever set up for the flapping wings you will also see the motor - it's the small silver tube it also powers the front claws Cheers Mike |

Very cool. It looks like the spy beetles that exist in Lyra's world in His Dark Materials.
