I have a few of these kits, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, '32 Rolls Royce Phantom II Seneca
Volvq F 122 Intercooler Turbo, and have built the Alfa Romeo touring Gran Spyder. For some reason they were sold at K-Mart cheap. It's been a few years since I built it and gave it to my father-in-law. He died about ten years ago so I have it back. It was fun to spoke those wheels, but I had problems with the nuts and screws. The chrome-plated them so they wouldn't go together until I found some metric taps and dies to remove the plating. Good luck, and let me know if you find the same situation with the plating. Bob |

These models really needed a finesse and "final touch" to go together well. I had a friend who used to collect these and he used to moan and groan about parts that were supposed to snap together, but then broke when he tried. I always though, it's a plastic model, if you are going to put it together, then, put it together. Glue, in minute amounts, and parts fitted to the wholes, make for more sense when working with a model of this caliber.

It's a bit of a sport to construct these kits with as little glue as possible. I try, but don't necessarily succeed - and for some assemblies like the seat fabric there isn't an alternative anyway.

Volvo F12
I did some cleaning, restauration and finishing on a Volvo F12 I managed to find a little while ago in the Netherlands. This thing is BIG...

I remember that model. I remember the price too! I could have almost purchased a used (albeit very old) car with the price of that kit. It is a most excellent model though. |

A few years ago I was interested in building a Pocher kit. I wanted to build an Alpharomeo La Monoposto Tipo A Del of 1931. Type A single-seater. I started with two Alfa Romero kits becouse the Typo A had two six cylinder engines. Also two transmissions, driveshafts, rear-gear cases, superchargers, even two stearing boxes and stearing rods. I started a set of instructions for building the Typo A but never got past starting The engine builds before I drifted away to the next interest.

I have one of these kits. It's packed away with several dozen other lesser kits that I collected over the years hoping to get back into modeling. It's a Mercedes, one of the kits with the metal spoke wheels, 150 pcs per wheel. I got it in 1996 when Model Expo was liquidating some kits, got it for less than 100 bucks. I need to get it out and get back to work on it. These were impressive kits.
