Language around the World
Dear Forum Folks:
The last Happy Birthday to Kevin just had some of the other language showing up other than the plain old English "Happy Birthday". So would some of the friends that speak and write other languages write Happy Birthday so we who are challenged with just English can learn more of the world? I think this could be a learning experience thread. Thanks, Miles |

We Dutchies actually say :Gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag. (congratulations (literally: be congratulated) on (literally: with) your birthday.)
More often we just say: Hartelijk gefeliciteerd! (literally: cordially congratulated) Or even shorter: Van harte! (Cordially!) |
