Here is the WIP update on the weathered super structure. I also made an optional variation for the sekibune. Instead of the little house, this area with railings.

In the back is the clean version for comparison.

Also, if required, one can take the deck elements off (for safer storage).

Now i need to build another hull with weathering layer :-)

Thanks Don. I think I know how I will make the sails for for now I will complete the set for release and work on the sails as an add-on. The sail will be paper too but the rigging would made out of strings and had to be added manually.

Since I glued the flags into the medium sizes boats, I wanted to make flag holders, so that I can insert and remove the flags. Better for storage and when you need to switch the clan!

So for the big boats I took the time and did it :-)

The ability to change the flags is a good feature.
The ships look real good.

Starting to play around with the sail. I tried a slightly bent shape. This is the paper version. Once textured it should looks really nice. Maybe I can get my better half to sow me a real cloth one :-)

Clare, am I getting the size right?

Also trying to make grapple hooks ...

If you want some sort of graphic or pattern on cloth sails you can try this method for printing on cloth using freezer paper and an inkjet printer.

Print and Sew: How To Print On Fabric Using Freezer Paper

I did it a few years ago printing a photograph on some white cotton material and it worked very good.

That should solve the printing on sails challenge! Thank you!

I "turned up the wind" a little stronger in the sail and created the texture. I was surprised during research to find that the sails have a split in the middle held together with just "thread". Anyone have an idea why they did it this way? I have not seen this design with the sails on European boats of that age.

This all is very flimsy as the rigging is missing. Will add that after I have taken all the photos I need.

Also I created a couple of grappling hooks on the bow deck :-)

Today I finished the rigging of the sails. It is a very easy try at rigging but I hope it does the trick.

I added the black background to make the string more visible.

I also upgraded the paper grappling hooks with some rope :-) In addition there are two rope coils textures printed underneath.
