Feudal Japan Wako Pirate Ship

For quite a while now I have been asked to make my version of a Wako pirate ship. After the Sekibune and Atakebune for the Samurai forces, this seemed like the perfect model for the enemy forces!

And with all my other Pirate ships in the works I started to become really interested in doing one

So here is the final build of my Wako Pirate ship. Like the other Japanese ships of this era, the shape is very different than the European vessels of that time. My girl friend said it looks like a raft with towers and a house on it!

I based it on the art I found in the Osprey "Fighting ships of the Far East 2" book, which seems the rendition a lot of builders seem to be using.

But enough words, here come the pics

I do hope to see this used in a lot of gaming sessions for the Sengoku period and the deck size and space should allow for lots of gaming action.

As I didn't have any pirate figures, my old LotR minis had to do. So don't be surprised to see Middleearth coming to Japan!!!

Happy building,
Chris

Thank you guys :-)

It's a little smaller than the Sekibune model I made. Have to make a comparison pic.

One would have to watch a Japanese dubbed Hollywood pirate movie to find out how "Pirate talk" goes in Japanese :-)
