Going Norse to meet some Vikings and Saxons!
I have started a new theme. This time I am going into the dark ages up north into the Norse region.
Here's a little sketch of what I have in mind. Inspired by Viking and Saxon architecture I want to design a couple of buildings for gaming and maybe just for the display shelf!

The first buildings I designed is the smallest - an A-frame type building.
I have decided to go with a wooden wall variant - which I call "Viking" - and a wattle&daub variant - which I call the "Saxon" version. For the roof I have made a wood shingle version, a grass version which I have often seen in research for Viking buildings and a thatched roof that reminds me more of the Saxon style (although I believe in reality it could be any roof for any culture as they were so close). In addition to that I am making these roof ornament options so you can spice up the look or if you just want to represent different clans! And there's an option to show shields and weapons on the walls if you like that. Finally I have added a "porch entrance" option. This could be the local chieftains house for this village? As you can see in the images, with just a few buildings you can put a little settlement on your table in no time! For more pics/infos and shop link, check out this post on my site. Now that this buildings is done I am looking forward to the next one Chris

This all looks very good. It is a long way from medieval Japan, but it looks like an exciting new field of endeavor.
Good luck. Don |

Looks great.

Thank you Don and Wyvern I did a quick google on that model book. I have planned to do a longboat later but the docks looks interesting too. For now I will be happy when I get everything done on my current list

I am working on the next installment of the series, the medium sized "regular" house set.
It will come with similar texturing and detailing options as the first one - also the porch entrance option - and with a new stone base to highlight important buildings! Here is what some test builds look like so far! I want to do some small bits for my Patreon bits series but other than a wood chopping block and a rune stune I cannot think of anything very Nordic specific. What small scatter stuff would you guys want to see to spice up a Viking village? Chris

I like the hides and fish drying rack. They will work with many settings.
I am very much intrigued by a Nordic totem pole! Will google what I could use for that. They will also complement the rune stones very well. Thanks for the ideas!
