The black velvet or felt background reminds me of the old blacklight posters! Remember them? Now just imagine painting a ping-pong ball (cut in half) and painted with blacklight paint (like in Billy's picture), and then light up the diorama with a blacklight. This might work as long as the glue or ink doesn't glow.
I think I'll experiment around with that.... Ken

Ken, check out this site for paper planets - they come out fairly round so you may be able to print it on light weight paper to "skin" your ping-pong ball.

if you did create any artwork for printing,.. and you want a really good rich black use this colormix in CMYK mode,.. C=80% M=60% Y=40% K=100%,... do a test of that one and next to the standard default black in your program,.. there is no comparison,... we used it in the design field for extra POW

It's time to break the silence.
Here is the finished left glove. It was difficult to design, but fortunately, it's not that hard to build. The wrinkling technique seems to work great - it turns a blah & boring glove into a glove that looks like it is being used. Ken

Haha! Yes, nice derivative idea to make. Box covered in beta cloth and the name "Thing2" with NASA-worm typeface on the box.

To all,
I have a few things to show tonight. I did a little surgery tonight and amputated the right arm. I built a new arm, and performed a little wrinklesque technique, and shortened and re-angled the wrist section. I re-angled the arm-to-glove interface to get the hand pose that I wanted. You can see in the first picture that the wrinkling really does add a little measure of realism. Too much Botox on the old arm as shown on the right. (Sorry if I keep repeating the wrinkling thing), but in my opinion, makes the model. The more wreckless you get when building this model, the better it looks! So if you have fat fingers, consider it an asset for this one. The rest of the pictures are self-explanatory. I mounted "Thing" at the end of the re-designed wrist, and I think it turned out OK. Stay tuned; more to come.... Ken

I just had this crazy-wild dream flash through my head!
Design a Mercury Astronaut in the same scale, and have Billy build it using red-river paper (incorporating the wrinkling too). Would that be awesome or what! Just something to think about. Ken

How about you design Don Knotts in "The Reluctant Astronaut"
and I will build it using real tin foil!
