Inbetweenie-time: Falcon 9 COTS in 1/325.7
Yes, it's that time of year. I decided to do an inbetweenie. there's some new stuff ready and printed to be built for the next "big" project (although "big" isn't exactly the right term for it), but there was time for a short little fun build.
This time I took Yogi's beautiful Falcon 9 and reduced it to 30% of its original size. I measured the cross section of the hull and I concluded it must be about 1/326 now. I kind of tweaked the Dragon capsule a bit, looking at the re-entered vehicle I added some RCS engine outlets and redid the logos on the craft a bit. Now it's so small, one hardly can see it but it's there. the second stage engine got a little extra detail, too. I worked quite fast so there aren't any build pics. I hope you don't mind. I got some result pictures anyway. Here they are. If you want to see more, let me know. Hope you all have a good New Year's Eve! PK |

PK,
Brilliant modeling as usual. Really like your rod and diorama format, but your red/white hot engine nozzle is inspired. Very cool idea. As for your scale, I would have gone with 1/325.6 to show more detail, but that's just me....LOL. |

Hello PK,
As allways, your mini are awesome. I am too modificating yogi's model to look more alike the last launch. I will post soon, By the way, very good job. Wondering what you could do with energia/buran stack .... Have a nice 2011 ^^ |

Thanks!
That actually is one of the subjects on the New Year's to-do list! Next up will be something involving AXM's shuttle in 1/400. |

Absofreakinlutely brilliant, PK! How did you manage the teeny-tiny cone on the nose of the Dragon spacecraft? I have trouble making those in 1/96, much less 1/325.7....

The tip of the nosecone is made out of regular printer paper, the middle part out of the usual 200 gram type. It wasn't that hard, really. It went together like a dream, as usual with Yogi's kits.
I guess it would have become a problem around 1/325.4 or 1/325.3... (-; |

Nicely done (all them little rocket nozzles) - and another stunning display!
