Saturn V S-1C or F-1 test stand

i've been on and off toying with the idea of making a test stand, either for the F-1 engine or the whole S-1C stage

well today after glancing at my 1/96 Revell Apollo/Saturn V plastic model

i opened my project and fiddled around and eventually did a test print of one of the "legs" of the test stand

it turned out ok allthough i'm not sure at what scale it is as i have to learn that, but i was hinking of 1/96 scale as Ton has a good model of it

i think that Greelt has a better model in 1/48 but it might be too big to do a test stand in that size

so we'll see later but i will at least try to do the test stand at 1/96 to begin with

if anybody has some good drawings or pics of it i will be a happy guy as i have not found too much of this info, did manage to find out about the dims of it on one drawing but it was only about the legs and did not show the rest of the structure

Question scale

the legs of the test stans are supposed to be 43,9 meters (tried to translate from feet) my model is 22 centimeters high, am i correct in assuming scale to be approx 1/200

The F-1 from the Lower Hudson Valley site is a great model, very detailed..but it's in 1/48 scale, but you can allways print at 50%. I built the F-1 and liked it so much I built the whole 1/48 Saturn V-Apollo monster (thats what my wife Kathy calls it!) find it here http://jleslie48.com/gallery_models_other.html ......Rich

hi Richcat
then most likely you built Greelt's F-1 engine and then either Ton's Saturn V or combined his with Greelt's S-1C

i have done the engine in both 1/48 and then printed in A3 (don't remember which scale it came out in) and they were really fun to build

not sure at the scale i got on my test stand yet but i'll keep going and see where i end up

I have built the Greelt and Tons combined in 1:96
First complete from Ton, and than modified with the engines from Greelt and any own details like a opened 3rd Stage with the eagle....
Look here
Kartonist.de | Bauberichte | WB 2010 - Apollo-Projekt
but sorry, it's in german written....

and the ending result with LUT, MLP and Crawler you can see here...

LUT from Edu-Craft

Even the J-2 Greelt made is very well doable - and possible - in 1/96!

a first test print of the legs if anyone wants to try
as far as i found it seems that the legs on the engine test stand and the S-1C test stand looks alike
but i have not found any good drawings with dims of the test stand yet, the only thing i found was a pdf file where they give the dims of the legs and how far into the ground they go and the superstructure but not the dims of the pillars on the "back legs" of the test stand

i go for the S-1C test stand as it will look good with a stage in it and a figure in same scale for comparison

i will for now try to get correct dims by looking at pics of the stand

been searchin high and low about the test stand, the only thing i've found sofar is one short report "Advanced engine test facility" about the S-1C teststand, and it gives dims of the legs, but only how high the steel superstructure is and how long the crane is, but i would like to know more about it, does anybody know if there are any books published on the subject, or can you as a private person contact NASA and get this info?
