I can assure you that the crawler will frequently find itself on display without the tower. FWIW, the tower will be getting similar upgrades as I put it together.

Thats good to hear, I can't wait to see the finished product, with a walk way that looks that good I can't imagine the rest.

On all the crawler models I have seen none where open on the ends on top, where the big X bracing is located. On the real crawler you can see the structural I -beams and see from top right through to the ground. Are you by chance going to take it that far?

Probably not completely. I'm debating putting the bracing on the bottom of the fore and aft sections but haven't decided for sure to do it yet. I'll know more when I have a chance to play with the parts a bit more. Taxes and work have kept me from doing much beyond planning the build of a few sections.

Yeah, the front and back sections will be made with I-Beams so you'll be able to see all the way through them. New parts being made now...

I haven't given up on this; real life has just gotten in the way temporarily. I'll be back to it soon.

It's pretty rough right now but I've started prototyping the bottom front of the crawler. The I-Beams will be covered with screen material to make the final floor.

Mario

Yea I know what you mean. I've been back to work for two weeks now so my big project has come to a screeching halt. I've been too tired and worn out to mess with it and sunday's the only free day I have and other things pile up that need doing.

Looking good so far, this will probably be the best crawler build I've seen.

It will certainly be the best crawler I've ever built.
