I know it's plastic but you can still get the Revell 1/32 Apollo from Squadron shop at
https://www.squadron.com/product-p/rm5086.htm .......Rich
PS Revell is the owner of the old Monogram molds (or they merged not sure)

He Ken,
Do you have any idea where the original cabin lights in the CM where?
I stopped by a model-shop today and bought some tiny LEDs , to play around with( and install them in the CM ) , but it would be nice to put them in the right place

Billy,

This document has very detailed CM diagrams, including -- if I'm reading correctly -- some or all of the floodlight installations.

Thanks Les, that's a really cool reference.

To be honest, I probably modeled them into the panels without realizing what they were. I'll check my reference materials and see what I can find. There are areas in the CM that you could feasibly plant a light; to light up the interior. Wow! That would be really awesome!

Ken

Tonight, I built the lower structure just under the hatch opening. The vertical ribs correspond to the outriggers that you saw earlier (see Billy's Lower Compartment/Heatshield).

Tomorrow, I will be working on one of the final (and difficult) areas of the project; THE CREW HATCH.

Some points to make about the hatch:

1. It has to be removable (to enable assembling and disassembling of the model)

2. It is one of the "focal points" of the model, therefore it has to be accurate and detailed.

3. The hinges have to be strong, while maintaining the look of the actual hardware.

Let's see how much I can get done this weekend!

Ken

Thanks Les, that is excellent stuff
I think I located the lights; they are the thingies between the windows, right above the astronauts heads

Also, check out this pic. I think the rectangular boxes between the upper parts of the seat frames are also floodlights. Thoughts?
