Last night, I did a quick review of the Apollo CM project, and I documented everything I could think of that remains to be done. As I think of minor tweaks, I add them to the list. Mostly minor stuff at this point, but for the most part, the project is getting very close to completion. Here are the major tasks that remain:

1 - Inside Tunnel details and Tunnel Hatch
2 - Finish detailing the Main Crew Hatch
3 - Attenuation Struts on the Couches
4 - Couch Harnesses
5 - Sea Recovery Cables
6 - Ingress Handle above main panel
7 - Display Stand
8 - Aft Storage Containers
9 - Incorporate recommendations from Billy, (but so far, so good)
10 - Publish to Ecardmodels

I'll be posting the Tunnel details, and Upper Heatshield Cone tonight, so stay tuned - almost there...

Ken

Ken,

I admire and appreciate your perseverance on this project. This is one of those models that, if it were never finished, would be a huge heart-breaker to the community (Think Greelt's Saturn V - I'm still mourning that one...). Glad to see you pushing through. Keep on plugging away!

Nobody would be more heart-broken than me at this point. We're at the last 10 feet of a 1 mile race! There is NO WAY I'm backing off at this point.

For tonight's installment:

Pic 1 - The Docking Ring Seal - wrong color; fixed in the final...
Pic 2 - Inside the Tunnel - closeup of the grab-handle
Pic 3 - the top wire is the Sea Recovery Cable; bottom wire is the RCS protection bar
Pic 4 - A peek inside through the Main Hatch. After the Seat Harnesses are attached, this will be a great view!
Pic 5 - The Upper Heatshield - with EVA grabhandle
Pics 6,7 & 8 - Looking through the windows and hatch to get a peek at the internals. The armrest/control arms are a bit too long - already fixed in final

Don't ya just love those last 3 shots? Add the harnesses and things should pop.

More coming!! stay tuned!

Ken you are combining history and model design in a spectacular way! I've been out of the loop on this but just want to add my astonishment to those comments already...it is wonderful to watch this come together

Looking greater and greater.
The last three pics really give the feeling of how tight the spsce is inside the capsule. Imaging being in there for that trip.
